Filipa Subtil, an integrated researcher at LIACOM, is co-editor, together with Rafiza Varão, Luiz C. Martino (University of Brasília), and Rodrigo Miranda Barbosa (Federal University of Pernambuco), of the thematic dossier “Harold Lasswell and the Return of Propaganda: The Centennial of the Book Propaganda Technique in the World War”, recently published by Esferas journal.

This initiative is part of the commemorations marking the centenary of Harold Lasswell’s doctoral thesis defence, which later resulted in the publication of the book under the same title. Lasswell was a political theorist and one of the pioneering figures in media effects research in the United States, particularly in the study of the effects of war propaganda.

The contemporary relevance of this topic is especially significant in the current context of global instability, marked by large-scale armed conflicts in Europe and the Middle East, where war propaganda has once again become central to academic debate and research.
