Marco López-Paredes, coordinator of the Communication Observatory at the Pontificia Universidad Católica del Ecuador (PUCE) and researcher at LIACOM, has recently published the chapter “Boomers to Zoomers: Intergenerational Service-Learning in the Age of Media and Information Literacy” in the book Communication and Applied Technologies – Proceedings of the International Conference on Communication and Applied Technologies, by Springer.
The chapter explores the potential of intergenerational service-learning as a tool to strengthen media and information literacy (MIL). Through collaborative experiences between university students and older adults, the study demonstrates how the exchange of digital knowledge helps reduce technological inequalities and fosters critical thinking in the face of misinformation in digital environments.
