Issue 39 of the Comunicação Pública journal is now available online. The new issue of the scientific journal of ESCS and LIACOM includes a thematic dossier dedicated to the topic “Public Service Media and Innovation.”
The new issue is available for open access on the Open Journal System (OJS) website.
Issue with a Thematic Dossier
The dossier “Public Service Media and Innovation,” edited by Elton Bruno Pinheiro and Luís António Santos, lecturers at the University of Minho and researchers at the Centre for Communication and Society Studies, brings together a set of articles aimed at understanding how Public Service Media, across different territories, are innovating, can and/or should innovate, or face challenges to innovation (in programming, management, social participation, funding, and regulation). This takes place particularly within a political-economic and sociocultural context in which phenomena such as disinformation, hate speech, and various forms of populism are increasingly present—especially in the socio-digital media environment—placing society, citizenship, democracy, and life itself under strain.
In addition to the thematic dossier, which comprises 10 articles, the new issue also includes one article and three book reviews.
About the Journal
Comunicação Pública is a multidisciplinary editorial project dedicated to publishing research papers, theoretical essays, and critical notes which, regardless of the diversity of perspectives, languages, contexts, and objectives that characterize them, take forms of human communication as their central subject of reflection.
Call for Papers
Article submissions for the next thematic dossier of the journal, dedicated to the topic “Sustainability, Greenwashing and Consumer Behavior,” are open until March 2, 2026. Issue 40 will be published in June 2026.
