LIACOM researcher Hadassa Oliveira took part in the international congress GENDERCOM 2025: Generi, Culture e Societá – Identità e rappresentazioni tra violazioni e riconoscimenti, held at the Università degli Studi di Palermo, Sicily, from September 23 to 26. The event brought together experts from various fields to discuss gender issues from an interdisciplinary perspective, bridging communication, cultural studies, and the social sciences.

During the congress, Hadassa Oliveira presented two research papers: “The Struggle for Inclusion: Resistance to Diversity in Female Beauty Representation in Advertising in Portugal and Brazil”, co-authored with LIACOM researcher Jorge Veríssimo, and “Between empowerment and submission: ‘tradwives’ as a communicative device for the (re)production of gender in Portugal”, co-authored with Micaela Cabral from LabCom, University of Beira Interior.
