The book “Specialty Journalism”, coordinated by Jaime Lourenço, a former ESCS student, has the contribution of teachers and former students of the School.
On October 2nd, at 6pm, Casa da Imprensa, in Lisbon, hosted the release of the book “Specialty Journalism“, coordinated by Jaime Lourenço, with a bachelor’s degree in Public Relations and Corporate Communication, a master’s in Journalism at ESCS, a PhD in Communication Sciences at ISCTE-IUL and currently Professor of the Bachelor Degree in Communication Sciences at the Autonomous University of Lisbon. Divided into two volumes, this is the first work dedicated to specialty journalism in Portugal, bringing together thematic articles by more than 40 authors, some of whom are Journalism professors and former students from ESCS.
Fátima Lopes Cardoso, coordinator of the Undergraduate in Journalism, writes the chapter “Photojournalism: the balance between the inner and outer world” (Vol. 2, pp. 69-88); Luís Bonixe writes about “Radio journalism in a multimedia context: the world told with sounds” (Vol. 2, pp. 39-56) and Pedro Marques Gomes is the author of “Journalism and historical investigation: crossing of knowledge” (Vol. 2, pp. 149-162).
The book has also the contribution of three former bachelor students and one graduate of the master’s degree in Journalism. André Carvalho Ramos signs the chapter “Investigative journalism: the decrepit house” (Vol. 2, pp. 133-148); João Francisco Gomes is the author of the chapter “Religious Journalism: Can we report what we don’t see?” (Vol.1, pp. 381-402); Rúben Martins writes about “Podcast journalism: new expressions in a new medium” (Vol. 2, pp. 57-68); and Francisca Matos reflects on “Agency journalism: speed guided by rigor” (Vol. 2, pp. 115-132), co-authored with André Campos Ferrão, from Lusa.
The book is part of the NIP-C@M Books collection, from the Autonomous University of Lisbon, in partnership with Livros Horizonte publisher.
