On December 11, 2024, the General Council of the Polytechnic of Lisbon (IPL) elected LIACOM researcher António Belo as President of the IPL for the four-year period 2025-2029.

The electoral act was presided over by the President of the General Council, Professor David Justino, and took place through secret voting, with a single candidate chosen. The candidate received 23 votes in favor and 4 blank votes, from the 27 councilors present, among the 33 who make up the governing body.

António Belo focused his candidacy on valuing the academic community, strengthening the identity of the Polytechnic of Lisbon and responding to the challenges of higher education, highlighting the importance of collaborative and strategic management.
