LIACOM researchers Alexandra Miguel, Filipa Subtil, Jorge Veríssimo, Nuno da Silva Jorge, and Sandra Miranda will participate in the 19th IBERCOM – Ibero-American Communication Conference, taking place from 6 to 9 July 2026 at the University of Minho, in Braga, Portugal. Organised by the Ibero-American Communication Association (ASSIBERCOM) and the Communication and Society Research Centre (CECS), the conference brings together researchers from several countries to discuss the theme “Ibero-American Communication Studies: Tensions, Global Reconfigurations and Counter-Hegemonic Activisms”, fostering critical reflection on contemporary challenges in communication, media, and knowledge production.
At this edition of the conference, LIACOM researchers will present four papers reflecting the diversity of the centre’s research activities:
- Brand Activism and Morality: Pathways to Promoting Pro-Societal and Pro-Environmental Attitudes, by Alexandra Miguel and Sandra Miranda;
- Digital Political Representation: Portuguese Members of Parliament Between the Constitutional Mandate and Algorithmic Mediation, by Bruno da Cruz Dores and Nuno da Silva Jorge;
- The Use of Artificial Intelligence in Advertising in Portugal, by Jorge Veríssimo and Ana Rita Sebastião;
- Women and the Just Energy Transition: A Look at News Coverage of False Solutions in the Climate Change Debate, by Sandra Azevedo and Filipa Subtil.
The participation of LIACOM researchers in this international scientific event reinforces the centre’s commitment to the production and dissemination of knowledge in the field of Communication Sciences, while strengthening its presence within leading Ibero-American academic networks.
