LIACOM researcher Vera Moutinho has been invited to take part in the project InfoClima – Youth in Action Against Climate Disinformation, an initiative by ZERO – Associação Sistema Terrestre Sustentável, funded by European funds under the Catalyst of Change call of the Netherlands Helsinki Committee.

The project emerges in a context marked by the growing spread of disinformation, particularly regarding the climate crisis. Its main objective is to empower university students to recognize, analyze, and resist false or manipulated narratives, while simultaneously fostering critical thinking and strategic communication skills.

In Lisbon, the project is developed in partnership with LIACOMESCS, and the UNESCO Chair in Communication, Media and Information Literacy and Citizenship, and includes a series of in-person workshops led by Vera Moutinho.

The first workshop will take place on March 4 (6:30–9:30 pm) and brings together:

  • 30 students from the Master’s program in Strategic Communication in Public Relations (professors Sofia Mimoso and Nuno da Silva Jorge);
  • 7 students from the course Climate Journalism (Professor Vera Moutinho);
  • 2 to 5 students from the course Advertising Project and Portfolio (Professors Rúben Neves, Joana Souza and Nuno Palma).

The second workshop, scheduled for March 11, will focus on co-creating the concept for a video series, as well as defining topics and scripts. A third session (date to be confirmed) is also planned to finalize the scripts and the overall structure of the audiovisual content.

Until July, participants will develop a communication campaign and a series of videos for social media, culminating in Lisbon with the creation of an mural as part of the campaign.

The project will also be implemented in the cities of Porto and Faro, expanding its impact at a national level.
