Hadassa Oliveira, a researcher at LIACOM, has recently published a book chapter dedicated to the analysis of discourses surrounding condom use in Portugal within the context of digital social media. The chapter, entitled “Discourses on Condoms in Portugal: A Brief Analysis of Instagram Posts by the National Health Service and the Brands Control and Durex,” was co-authored with Joana Vidal Maia and Micaela Cabral and is included in the volume Cairo-Lisboa 2024: Three Decades of Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights Under Debate.
The study analyses content published on Instagram by the Portuguese National Health Service (SNS) and the brands Control and Durex, exploring how institutional and commercial communication addresses condom use, prevention, and sexual and reproductive health rights in the Portuguese context.
