{"id":3662,"date":"2026-07-03T17:59:48","date_gmt":"2026-07-03T17:59:48","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/liacom.escs.ipl.pt\/?p=3662"},"modified":"2026-07-03T17:59:48","modified_gmt":"2026-07-03T17:59:48","slug":"fernanda-bonacho-fez-parte-do-painel-da-conferencia-direitos-humanos-e-desinformacao-a-educacao-como-resposta-a-manipulacao","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/liacom.escs.ipl.pt\/en\/eventos\/fernanda-bonacho-fez-parte-do-painel-da-conferencia-direitos-humanos-e-desinformacao-a-educacao-como-resposta-a-manipulacao\/","title":{"rendered":"Fernanda Bonacho was part of the panel at the conference \u201cHuman Rights and Disinformation \u2013 Education as a response to manipulation\u201d"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">On 19 June, the city of Loures hosted the conference \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/unescoportugal.mne.gov.pt\/pt\/noticias\/conferencia-direitos-humanos-e-desinformacao-debateu-o-papel-da-educacao-no-combate-a-desinformacao\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Human Rights and Disinformation \u2013 Education as a Response to Manipulation<\/a>,\u201d an initiative of the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/unescoportugal.mne.gov.pt\/pt\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">National Commission for UNESCO<\/a>&nbsp;(CNU), organized in partnership with Loures City Council, which is recognized as a UNESCO Learning City.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/catedraunesco.escs.ipl.pt\/en\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">UNESCO Chair on Communication, Media and Information Literacy and Citizenship<\/a>\u00a0(<strong>LIACOM<\/strong>\/<a href=\"https:\/\/www.escs.ipl.pt\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">ESCS<\/a>) took part in the event, with Fernanda Bonacho, chairholder of the UNESCO Chair, researcher at LIACOM, and lecturer at the School of Communication and Media Studies (ESCS), participating in the second panel, which focused on education for informed citizenship.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The discussion also featured Lu\u00eds Pereira dos Santos, president of the Executive Board of EduQA; Ant\u00f3nio Marcelino, responsible for the Education Department at Loures City Council; and Alexandre Le Voci Sayad (online), journalist, educator, and UNESCO advisor on media literacy. The panel was moderated by journalist Francisco Sena Santos.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The discussion began by highlighting the importance of working with local communities, with examples shared from initiatives developed by the ESCS UNESCO Chair in Benfica and by Loures City Council. Lu\u00eds Pereira dos Santos agreed on the need to strengthen collaboration with the wider community, stating that schools \u201cmust look beyond their walls\u201d and should be actively engaged with society\u2019s \u201cmajor social challenges.\u201d The panel also emphasized the value of mapping media literacy initiatives across cities, with Alexandre Le Voci Sayad presenting work carried out in Amman, Jordan.
